How Cool New Tech Can Help You Survive Staying at Home

main-11 Cool Technology for surviving at Home

Audio and video, new big screen TV, latest dolby atmos surround sound, TV and movies and streaming like never before!

With so many people still quarantined at home, May may not be quite the spring fling people were expecting -- or hoping for. But that doesn't mean that you can't have fun at home, and some cool new tech can go a long way to making the days go by faster while keeping you and your family entertained through the long hours of sheltering in place.

Whether it's what you listen to, what you watch stuff on, or HOW you watch and listen to stuff, Atlanta Audio & Automation put together a look at some of the coolest new technology that can help make your stay at home as enjoyable as possible.

Tune In

Your TV has probably gotten quite the workout the past month and a half. Between keeping the kids entertained, watching Netflix between meetings, and then gathering around for movies at night, the so-called center of the living room has been busy.

Given how much use it’s getting, there's no better time to upgrade your TV into something that better suits your family's needs. So, what's new in the world of TVs for 2020? Well, 8K TVs are entering the consumer sphere, giving you the option for even MORE pixels, detail, and clarity in all of your favorite programming. There's not a lot of native 8K content out there yet, but most 8K TVs upscale, giving you a better picture than you would have on your 4K, or 1080p, sets.

There's also high dynamic range (HDR). If there's one thing to look for on TVs in 2020, it's HDR: This technology gives you more realistic colors and is really going to make a difference in how life-like your content looks. In other words: Now is the time to jump on the HDR train with an HDR-compatible set.

Listen In

No matter how you listen to your music, podcasts, or streaming apps, there are a few different ways to improve your at-home listening experience.

First, let's talk about quality. If you are listening to music on those free headphones you got on the airplane a few years ago -- or the speakers that came with your computer -- you are well overdue for an upgrade to hi-fi speakers that will simply blow you away with their sound quality. And yes, you can get great quality out of hi-fi headphones to keep things quiet for everybody else in the house, as well!

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention vinyl: Vinyl is having a huge comeback. If you are ready to step into the world of true hi-fi audio with a record player, amp, receiver, and speakers, we have everything you need to bring that high-quality level of music home.

And last, don't write off a whole-home audio system, either. With one of these systems installed, you'll be able to listen to all your music across any of the various speakers in your house -- different family members will even be able to listen to different songs in different rooms! Music might bring people together, but such a system can keep every member of the family -- even those with diverging musical tastes -- happy.

Surround In

You are spending a lot of time watching TV and listening to music, but how else can you improve your entertainment experience?

Dolby Atmos Surround Sound.

With Atmos, you'll actually be able to hear the sound effects from your favorite movies all around you, and above you. It's a level of realism in home audio that's never been possible before and will make your home theater even more like an actual theater.

No matter what you are looking to upgrade -- your TV, speakers, or surround sound system -- all of us at Atlanta Audio & Automation are here to help!
