Feel Like You’re Sitting Courtside with a Proper Home Theater or Media Room Setup

The time is near for collegiate basketball fans to turn their hearts and souls to the nearest TV for three weeks of NCAA frenzy. March Madness is a perfect reason to bring friends and family together within your Atlanta, GA home to celebrate camaraderie, conversation, and bonding over basketball.

If you’re planning to be the host this season, consider these three audiovisual tips to ensure your home theater or media room is properly set up for weeks of immersive basketball viewing.

  1. Avoid Washed Out Picture with an ALR Screen

If you plan to host March Madness in your dedicated home theater, you may not want to darken the room as you would during a movie. Unfortunately, ambient light from natural or artificial sources can significantly wash out the image on a standard matte white projector screen.

With an ambient light rejecting (ALR) screen, you can still get a premium viewing experience of every basketball game with your lights on. ALR screens are designed to filter out ambient light to provide premium brightness and contrast levels that are equal to, and even surpass, that of TV panels.

Whether you want to keep the window shades open or turn on overhead lights so friends and family can socialize during the games, an ALR screen will ensure your picture is clear and vibrant no matter the lighting in the room.

  1. Enhance the Picture with a 4K HDR TV or Projector

While March Madness won’t be broadcast in 4K via antenna or cable, watching the tournament on a 4K HDR TV or projector will significantly upscale standard HD broadcasts, providing much more perceived detail—especially if your display is larger than 55 inches.

Most March Madness broadcasts from popular outlets will be in 1080P, but if you have access to DirecTV, you can enjoy the 2020 tournament in 4K HDR. Otherwise, you can find March Madness matches on CBS, TNT, TBS, TruTV, or through your smart TV via the NCAA March Madness Live app.

  1. Amplify the Sound with an External Audio System

To truly capture the energy of every match, we recommend an external audio system that supports 5.1 surround sound, which is the format in which March Madness will be produced. If you have a dedicated home theater, you likely already have a surround sound system in place.

However, some media rooms aren’t equipped with an external audio system. Luckily, you can explore your audio options by visiting our Atlanta showroom to speak with an AV professional and demo high-quality surround sound speakers from industry-leading brands. We’ll show you the difference between a soundbar and multi-speaker home theater system and recommend the best solution for your existing media room so that you can enjoy unrivaled sound and feel like you’re sitting courtside during every game.

Ensure your home theater or media room is equipped with the latest technology to truly optimize every movie or game experience for years into the future.
