Home Theater Trends to Watch Out for in 2017
Enjoy the Coolest Tech in Your Georgia Private Cinema
With the New Year now in full swing, it’s time to start looking ahead at the new technology you’ll soon be able to enjoy in your Georgia home theater. Everything from advanced display technology to top of the line audio gear means you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more in your private cinema this year. In this blog, we’ll highlight some of our favorite trends to look out for in 2017. Read on for more.
High-dynamic range and 4K Ultra HD have taken the world by storm in 2016, so what’s next on the horizon? There’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Here are some of our favorites:
OLED: While OLED technology has been around for a while, it’s been a bit slow to catch on in the mainstream market. For a long time LG was the only major manufacturer producing TV displays with the backlighting technology, but with big announcements from Samsung and Sony that they would be jumping on the OLED bandwagon soon, it looks like this year may be its time to shine.
Alternatives to OLED: Ok, so this one may seem a bit ironic coming after the last trend, but hear us out. With the rise of OLED backlighting technology, competing manufacturers have put their minds to developing new ways to offer brighter images and more variations of color in their TV displays. From Samsung’s QLED to LG’s own Nano Cell Technology, it seems like the war for display dominance is just heating up.
4K Projectors: Though 4K UHD HDR technology was all the rage in TVs last year, projectors were a little slow on the uptake. That’s looking to change soon with the release of more 4K UHD HDR capable projectors, including Sony’s latest short throw model. If you love the movie theater experience but don’t have the space for a full theater, this might be the answer.
Immersive Audio Headphones: Between the emergence of VR and the increased demand for excellent mobile sound, it’s really no surprise that immersive audio (like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) are coming to headphones near you. Time will tell if this changes the personal audio world the way it has home theaters.
Hi-Res Audio: Ultra HD for the ears? It may just be in your future. Hi-Res audio already exists, but it’s becoming more affordable and available this year. Let’s see if it changes the way you hear your favorite tunes.
More Channel Support for Immersive Systems: You may love your Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 system, but it looks like many manufacturers are trying to enhance your AV experience with receivers that support more channels – that means more speakers for even fuller sound.
